My pot of gold...

Families... the blood related and friendish kinds... are what keep me going each day. This past Easter weekend, I was fortunate enough to spend time with many people I consider family. From Springfield to St. Louis, I was all over the state and always surrounded by people that love me.

On Easter, we went to Giz's mom's house. Grandma. She's an amazing lady and will be 81 May 22nd. I also got to see others of his family who I consider my own family. Grandma gave me some china because she claims to have so much of it with little need for it all. This set isn't a complete set but I'll cherish it all the same. It came from Czechloslovakia which is where her family came from. It's beautiful! Perhaps I'll post pictures on another day.

In Springfield, I got to visit my BFFF (Yeah, that's right, THREE fs) and got to talk to an old friend who I've missed dearly as we haven't been exactly talking lately. I think things are resolved on that front though as that person texted me yesterday seemingly just to chat. It was nice to know that there aren't hard feelings and that we can go back to normal.

As the school year draws to a close (28 days left!), I've realized I'll miss most of these kids more than I thought I would. After spending so much time with them, they quickly become a sort of second family. And next year my kids from last year (my FIRST class) won't be in our building anymore and I know that I'll have a hard time saying goodbye at the end of this year.

Family doesn't have to be biological to be family. It's those people that you care about and hopefully care about you in return. The people that will be there no matter what and won't be afraid to tell you like it is. The people that you share that certain connection with. And I'm blessed enough to have quite a large "family!"
