So I totally just wrote a long entry in Word and it won't let me copy and paste it in here. So what do I do? Do I take the time to retype it all here or just let it go and know that I did it and leave it for me to read? Argh. Perhaps I will be back later to retype it but for now, I have other things to do...
Okay... so I googled it and figured it out. Without further ado, here are my reflections on the past year and decade and a few goals (not resolutions) for the new year. Perhaps some goals for the new decade will be posted later (considering by the end of this decade, I'll be 35.... JIMINY CRICKET and HOLY FRICKIN COW!)
Top Ten moments of 2009
1. I got to lie on the beach for the first time since high school.
2. I drove the 14 hour drive to Mississippi by myself and would do it again!
3. I started my third year teaching at the same district.
4. I bought a wii, bought a laptop, subscribed to a DVR service, and joined Netflix. Four things I thought I’d never do/be able to do.
5. My mother and I donated our hair for the third time to Locks of Love.
6. One person voted for me for Teacher of the Year in our building.
7. Some wonderful friends came up to visit.
8. I switched banks and wrote an angry letter to the old bank. (This makes top ten because it was one of the defining moments of my ADULT life.)
9. I realized I had a great group of friends at work when they brought me a cake and helped me celebrate my 25th birthday on the first day of summer school.
10. Finding out one of my students was actually my mom’s cousin’s niece, from Illinois.
Ten things from the past decade that are cool and/or surprising…
1. I asked out a boy.
2. I was a cheerleader.
3. I went to Florida a few times, New York, Nebraska, and Mississippi.
4. I graduated High School with a 4.0 (which was a struggle due to a bad choice my freshman year).
5. I eventually graduated college (and fell into a fabulous job, a wonderful housing situation, and was just all around blessed).
6. I worked at Walgreens for seven years.
7. I took on leadership roles in cheerleading, in college, and at work (and overcame the fear of public speaking along the way).
8. I bought a NEW car and sadly said goodbye to the Cougarsaurus.
9. I said goodbye to many dear friends and family. Some simply due to the distance that grew between us, and some to death. Not really a positive thing here but a sad truth of time passing.
10. I met my best friends and resultingly (yeah, that’s a made up word) have some amazing memories!
Things I’d like to do in 2010!
1. Lose 20 pounds (I know this is the same as Bs but I was seriously thinking it yesterday as I stepped on the scale!)
2. Get more than one vote for Teacher of the Year!
3. Significantly pay down some of my debt.
4. Stop eating school meals so darn much.
5. Reconnect with some of my lost friends.
6. Continue clogging.
7. Be even more conscientious with my budget.
8. Take the GRE and start Grad. School.
9. Go to the beach, either Florida or Mississippi this summer (and look good in a swim suit when I do!)
10. Meet somebody… Which will have to start with putting myself in situations where I CAN meet somebody.
11. (One more because I just thought of it:) Stop being such a doormat for people to use and abuse.
Last meal of 2009: Black Eyed Peas, Hot Jowl, and Cornbread.
Last song of 2009: No idea since we were just talking and then I looked at my phone and it was midnight! But I think it was Selena Gomez or something on the Ryan Seacrest hosted Dick Clark Rockin’ New Year’s Eve show or whatever.
First meal of 2010: I was eating my last meal of 2009 at midnight so I was still eating it at midnight:oh one….
First song of 2010: Haha… I have no clue! I was in my car so whatever was on the radio.
First show of 2010: 30 Rock.
