I am not turning into a pig...

Yes... I have (probably) swine flu. h1n1. According to the flu swab (a very uncomfortable process... since they swab up inside your nose, like way up inside your nose), I tested positive for Influenza A. They didn't do a test specifically for h1n1 but the doctor said they haven't had any cases of Influenza A that weren't swine flu in our area so it's more than likely flu of the swine variety.

It started with a serious dry hacking cough, sore throat and headache (both of which I attributed to the cough) and all the symptoms of a sinus infection. I went to the doctor on Wednesday when it all first started because I wanted to try to put an end to it as quickly as possible, what with parent teacher conferences and everything else going on. I knew I needed to be in the best health possible. On Wednesday, the doctor said it was probably a sinus infection and prescribed me a zpak. I am wishing now I had requested a flu test then... not that it really would have made much difference.

I have had a fever since Wednesday (didn't know I even had one until they took the temp at the doctor's office...) but it was a low fever (99ish). And at 99, the school nurse doesn't even send you home so I continued going to work... and feeling like crud. Yesterday was the worse though. But when I left for school, I didn't have a fever at all and figured I could hang in there. I knew I wouldn't have a full class since I sent three home with high fevers on Thursday.

Unfortunately, I had zero energy from not sleeping well the night before. And then I was cold. Freezing. I couldn't get warm. I had on a long sleeve tee and a warm hoodie. My kids weren't cold... just me. Not a good sign. I wanted to stick it out until at least lunch though. There was so much to do... By lunch time though, I was miserable. The secretary felt my forehead while I was walking the kids to lunch and said I definitely had a fever and should go home. So I went to the nurse after dropping the kids off. 102 degrees. I left school and went straight to the doctor.

I started feeling even worse and just slept off and on all afternoon/evening yesterday until about 11:30 when I got off the couch and went to bed where I only woke up once in the night!

I haven't had a fever today so Ihope yesterday was the worse of it and I'll be over it all by Monday.
