Holy toledo... the year is almost over. Again. It doesn't seem that long ago I was saying bye to my first class. Now, in two days, I'll be saying bye to my second class. It would be a big fat lie if I said I'd miss them the same. I won't. There are a select few that I will miss terribly but for the most part, this class just doesn't hold the same emotional attachment that I had with my first class. In fact, I'm almost MORE sad that my first class is leaving our building this year to go to the Upper Elementary. No longer can I watch them grow.
Now even though I won't miss many of them, I am immensely proud of them. We started the year with lower than average reading levels and many of them are reading above grade level as they leave my class. I only had two that received extra reading assistance so I can honestly say that I helped with this outcome. I'm not going to say it was all me... because it wasn't. The kids had to want it, too and a large contribution was made by the parents that took the time out of their busy lives to read with their children each week. But it truly does bring a tear of joy to my eye when I think about how far some of them have come!
I have two days left with them. They will have a substitute on the last day. And I'll come back Tuesday to an empty classroom to clean and check out of. Not to be cliche, but time really does fly...
Oh and on the clogging news: Clogging starts Monday, June 7th at 8:00! I am super excited! We are going to have an hour session each week. So $20 a month and I'm going to learn how to clog! If you want to drive up and do it with me, you're more than welcome to crash at my place Monday nights!

I wish I could take clogging with you! I wish wish wish that I could say... hey... I need to open Mondays and close Tuesdays every week, but that wouldn't fly. :( Good luck on your last 2 days! Congratulations!
